The original edition published in 1960, consists of a 200 page history of the county from the earliest European explorers and colonists near the beginning of the 1600's (with an illustration and map section); an extensive section on the genealogy of the different early colonial Calvert Count Families and tax lists from 1733 and 1782. It also includes a bibliography and index. The Bicentennial 3rd Edition adds another 77 pages of information, including an update on the county history, further genealogical information concerning the several of the county's early families (info which had come to light after 1960), a primarily architectural photo section, a full-color plate section showing coats-of-arms and the Latin mottos for a number of the early colonial families of the county and a section of background information and explainitory notes concerning the armorial section.
